BON 2026: Legendary Pete Edochie Leads Star-Studded Honourees

According to Ireporter Online, the awards committee announced that veteran actor Chief Pete Edochie, alongside Ruth Kadiri, Peju Ogunmola, and Steve Sodiya, will receive special honours for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian film industry.

The recognition celebrates the remarkable achievements of individuals who have played significant roles in shaping Nollywood’s identity, expanding its reach, and promoting Nigerian cinema on the global stage.

In a statement released by the BON Awards organisers, the recipients were selected based on their exceptional creativity, years of dedication, mentorship efforts, and lasting influence across generations of movie audiences.

The committee described the honourees as representatives of different eras of Nollywood, connecting the industry’s early foundations with its current global recognition.

Chief Pete Edochie, MON, was honoured for his iconic performances, commanding presence, and decades-long contribution to Nigerian storytelling. The legendary actor’s portrayal of cultural values, wisdom, and authority has continued to inspire filmmakers and audiences across Africa.

Also honoured is Steve Sodiya, an accomplished editor, director, and talent development advocate, celebrated for his behind-the-scenes contributions and commitment to nurturing emerging talents through mentorship and training programmes.
