Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the design and procurement of two major road projects in the Southeast, describing the development as a “critical game-changer” for the region.

According to Ireporter Online, Soludo said the approval reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to rebuilding the Southeast and addressing longstanding infrastructure challenges in the zone.

The governor made the remarks in a statement shared via his official X handle on Thursday, where he noted that the decision represents a significant step toward the economic and social transformation of the region.

Soludo stated that President Tinubu’s actions would be remembered in history, especially for his efforts toward the reconstruction and development of the Southeast.

He revealed that following a meeting with the President on July 1, the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, requested details of priority road projects in the region.

The governor explained that he submitted two key projects on July 3, including the Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road, a 108-kilometre route proposed for dualisation, and the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road, a 150-kilometre road project connecting Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu–Port Harcourt corridor through Abia.

Soludo disclosed that he received confirmation from the Ministry of Works on July 15 that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.

He expressed optimism that the projects would have a far-reaching impact beyond the Southeast, benefiting neighbouring regions including the South-South and North Central zones.

The governor also praised President Tinubu’s previous infrastructure efforts, stating that the administration’s approach would bring significant changes to the Southeast.

“For me personally, this is why politics makes sense — working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people,” Soludo said.

He added that more major infrastructure initiatives were underway across the Southeast and promised to release details of additional projects in due course.
