Shettima: “Nigeria Has Everything To Succeed, Poverty Is Unacceptable

According to Ireporter Online, Shettima made the statement on Wednesday during his keynote address at the Agric, Development and Investment Summit held in Abuja, where he highlighted Nigeria’s vast economic opportunities and natural resources.

The Vice President stated that Nigeria possesses the capacity to become one of the wealthiest countries in the world, noting that several sectors across the country have the potential to generate massive wealth if properly harnessed.

Shettima pointed to Indonesia’s success in the palm oil industry as an example of how agricultural development can create significant revenue, noting that the country has generated billions of dollars from crude palm oil exports.

He also highlighted the economic opportunities within the Niger Delta region, describing it as one of the world’s largest deltas with enormous potential in areas such as aquaculture, fisheries, and marine resources.

The Vice President said Nigeria’s natural advantages provide enough opportunities for prosperity, stressing that the country has the resources required to achieve remarkable economic growth.

Shettima further defended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, stating that the President does not engage in blame-shifting and is always prepared to accept responsibility for decisions taken under his administration.

According to him, Tinubu understands that the ultimate responsibility for actions and policies of his government rests with him.

The Vice President added that President Tinubu is often displeased when the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari is criticised because he believes in taking ownership of his own administration’s decisions.

Shettima described Tinubu as a leader willing to implement bold reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy, adding that some policies introduced by the administration are already producing positive outcomes.

He urged stakeholders, investors, and development partners to continue supporting the government’s efforts to transform Nigeria and unlock its economic potential across various sectors.
