Air Force Chief Commends Troops For Strengthening National Security

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has praised the officers, airmen, and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force for their steadfast commitment to combating banditry and terrorism across the country.

Recognition of Dedication

In his remarks, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed his appreciation for the dedication and commitment shown by the air component officers in ensuring the security of the nation. He emphasized the importance of welfare, noting that the well-being of the personnel remains a top priority. The Chief assured them of continued support through the provision of necessary equipment, training, and resources to enhance their operational efficiency.

“As we commemorate this special occasion, I urge you to remain focused and resolute. The Nigerian Air Force remains fully committed to your welfare and operational effectiveness until we achieve ultimate victory,” he said.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by the operational environment, he urged the troops not to be discouraged, reaffirming that their mandate remains to restore normalcy to the region. He further encouraged them to continue their efforts with determination, as each contribution significantly strengthens the nation’s security and stability.

Honoring the Fallen

Air Marshal Abubakar also took a moment to honor the fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, recognizing their sacrifice as a source of inspiration and praying for the peaceful repose of their souls.

Appreciation for Support

The Air Force Chief expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership and unwavering support of the Armed Forces, particularly the Nigerian Air Force. He also acknowledged the support from the Minister of Defence, the Minister of State Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, for their collaboration in bolstering security within the state.

In addition, he commended the leadership of the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, for sustained operational successes, and also appreciated the cooperation from sister security agencies and host communities.

Operational Successes

Earlier, Garba Jibia, Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA and Commander of the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina, highlighted the significance of the Sallah Luncheon in boosting the morale of frontline troops. He noted that joint operations since January 2025 have significantly weakened the capabilities of bandits and terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of several commanders and the destruction of their assets.

Jibia praised the Air Component’s accomplishments as a reflection of the leadership’s renewed commitment to delivering effective airpower in the pursuit of national security. He also commended the gallant efforts of the pilots and personnel, acknowledging their dedication and service to the nation.
