Identified as CDT Emmanuel Chidiebere Onyeomereneche, with registration number NDA 13257, the victim tragically passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, just a few months shy of his graduation from the National Defence Academy.

Accompanied by friends, the cadet visited the hotel and decided to take a swim in the pool, leading to the unfortunate incident.

Sources speaking anonymously revealed that the victim vanished from the pool’s surface around 6:37 pm that fateful Tuesday. Despite efforts by the state fire service, his lifeless body was discovered and confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that investigations are underway.
