Inside Meeting: Olatunji Disu Meets Former IGPs, Fresh Details Emerge

According to Ireporter Online, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Thursday held a high-level strategic meeting with former Inspectors-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A statement released by the Nigeria Police Force after the meeting revealed that discussions focused on harnessing the extensive institutional memory and strategic experience of retired police chiefs to strengthen ongoing security operations, address emerging security threats, and support continuing reforms within the Force.

The Inspector-General of Police expressed deep appreciation to his predecessors, describing their experience and counsel as a vital resource for the effective administration and modernization of the Nigeria Police Force.

The delegation of former police chiefs in attendance included Aliyu Attah (Rtd), Sunday Ehindero (Rtd), Mike Mbama Okiro (Rtd), Ogbonna Onovo (Rtd), Abubakar Ringim, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar (Rtd), Sulaiman Abba (Rtd), Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd), and Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun (Rtd).

In a related development, the Inspector-General of Police also issued a directive prohibiting unauthorized social media activities by officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, citing concerns over professionalism, discipline, and the public image of the institution.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer noted that the directive addresses the rising trend of personnel engaging in video content creation, live streaming, and other online activities in uniform or in identifiable police settings without official approval.

The IGP emphasized that while social media remains a valuable communication tool, its use by serving officers must strictly comply with existing laws, regulations, and the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy.

He further warned that personnel are prohibited from publishing unauthorized content in uniform, commenting on official police matters, disclosing sensitive operational information, or using their office for personal publicity, entertainment, or commercial purposes.
