The latest figures from the parallel foreign exchange market indicate that the Nigerian naira maintained a relatively stable position against the United States dollar on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

According to market sources, the dollar traded at ₦1,400 for sellers and ₦1,385 for buyers at the Lagos parallel market, commonly referred to as the black market or Aboki FX. Bureau De Change (BDC) operators disclosed that these rates reflected prevailing market transactions during the trading period.

Meanwhile, the official exchange rates published by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed the dollar trading within a range of ₦1,376 and ₦1,385.

The apex bank has consistently maintained that it does not recognize the parallel market as an official platform for foreign exchange transactions. The CBN has repeatedly advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to conduct such transactions through authorized financial institutions and approved banking channels.

Foreign exchange traders also noted that black market rates are subject to fluctuations based on demand, supply, and location, meaning the actual buying and selling prices may vary across different markets and dealers.
