Whatever Peter Obi Is Doing In Life Is Inconsequential” – Kenneth Okonkwo

According to Ireporter Online, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has described the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, as inconsequential in whatever he does in life.

Okonkwo made the comment on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he was questioned about his political focus and outlook ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former Nollywood actor turned politician stated that he prefers to focus on what he called “contenders” rather than “pretenders” in the upcoming race, adding that he was not interested in discussing individuals he considered politically irrelevant.

“I have just been appointed the spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar, so Obi is inconsequential in whatever he is doing in his life. May we proceed to talk about more important issues? I want to talk about contenders in 2027, I don’t want to talk about pretenders. Can you bring down somebody who is already down?” he said during the interview.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has filed an ₦8 billion defamation lawsuit against Okonkwo over the allegations made during the broadcast.

The suit, filed at the Onitsha Judicial Division of the Anambra State High Court, followed the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum previously issued to Okonkwo demanding a retraction, a public apology, and compensation.

The dispute originated from claims made by Okonkwo during a June 8 appearance on Channels Television, where he alleged that Obi defrauded House of Representatives aspirants of ₦10 million each and influenced the compilation of candidates for federal constituencies in the South-East.

Obi’s legal team, led by Chief Alex Ejesieme (SAN), had earlier issued a pre-action notice dated June 9, demanding a retraction, apology, and ₦5 billion in damages.

However, Okonkwo, through his counsel V.I. Uma, dismissed the demands in a response dated June 16, insisting that he stood by his comments.
