Army Begins Weapon Handling Test In Gombe State
The 301 Artillery Regiment General Support, Gombe, a unit of the Nigerian Army, has announced the commencement of a weapon handling test in the Malete Liji Area of Yamaltu – Deba Local Government Area, Gombe State. Dubbed “The Vulcans,” the regiment released a press statement through its Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Mazinho Attah, urging residents not to be alarmed by the sounds of weapons during the training.
Captain Attah clarified that the primary objective of the exercise is to enhance the weapon handling skills of the officers. This marks the first range classification exercise for the regiment in 2024, following its last one conducted in August 2023.
The statement reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to adhering to the Training Directive for the year 2024, emphasizing the importance of such exercises in improving personnel proficiency.
Residents in the Malete – Liji Range area were advised not to panic upon hearing sounds of weapons fired during the exercise. Additionally, they were urged to refrain from entering the designated area for safety reasons throughout the specified period.
The announcement serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of residents while the military conducts its training activities.
