Badaru Reveals Why He’s Under Pressure To End Insecurity

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is consistently pressuring security chiefs to put an end to insecurity in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Badaru disclosed that the service chiefs, alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the defence ministers, recently held a meeting with Tinubu to discuss the country’s security challenges.…..READ MORE 

According to Badaru, Tinubu is eager to see a resolution, repeatedly questioning w hen the issue will be fully addressed. The security chiefs reportedly assured the president that Nigeria’s security situation would stabilize before the end of the year.

“We are under Tinubu’s pressure to end insecurity in Nigeria. He constantly asks when the problem will be resolved because it is long overdue. We had a meeting with the president, the service chiefs, and the National Security Adviser, where we extensively discussed the situation. The president directly asked the service chiefs for a timeline on when the crisis would be resolved, and they assured him that things would normalize before the end of the year,” Badaru stated.

He further emphasized that security forces are making decisive moves to curb insecurity as quickly as possible.

On the issue of the notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, Badaru confirmed that he has not yet been arrested but remains on the run. He assured that security forces are closing in on him and that his capture is imminent.
