Biden And Tinubu Address Crucial Issues Over Binance Executive Release

Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared that the conversation took place around 4 PM Nigerian time and lasted approximately 30 minutes.

During the briefing with State House correspondents, Tuggar mentioned that the call focused on the recent release of Tigran Gambaryan, the Head of Financial Crime Compliance at Binance, a cryptocurrency trading platform.

“The discussion revolved around cooperation between the two nations concerning law enforcement, as well as the release of a suspect linked to the cryptocurrency exchange company,” Tuggar stated.

He added that President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the US partnership in security matters, particularly in Africa.

“The President thanked the US for its collaboration across multiple areas of security in Africa and West Africa in particular. President Biden assured President Tinubu that this partnership is crucial, as Africa holds the future of the world,” Tuggar remarked.

The two leaders also addressed Africa’s representation on the UN Security Council, with Biden reiterating US support for a permanent African seat, emphasizing that “he doesn’t see why one of those seats shouldn’t belong to Nigeria.”
