Prior to his untimely death, Umar was employed at the Kontagora branch of First Bank.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on Tuesday, October 29, a friend and colleague, Nafiu Yakubu, expressed his sorrow, describing Umar as a remarkable individual. He wrote: “It is with profound sadness that I pay tribute to my late friend and colleague who lost his life early on Saturday, October 26, 2024. I was shocked to hear the devastating news that morning.”

He continued, “Though he is no longer with us, we will always cherish his memory. A great soul never truly dies; we can never forget such a wonderful friend and colleague. The numerous calls and expressions of sympathy and comfort, along with prayers for his family on social media, reflect how significant he was in our lives.”

Nafiu quoted Hazel Gaynor, saying, “To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die,” and added Thomas Campbell’s words: “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” Umar’s passing leaves a profound void that words cannot fully express.
