Just under a month after his removal for non-compliance and defiance, Jelili expressed his remorse in a “Letter of Apology” addressed to Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and presented to the Assembly on Tuesday. In it, he acknowledged that his actions may have appeared disrespectful and pledged his commitment to working respectfully with the legislators.

Additionally, Jelili informed the Assembly, via a letter from his legal team, that he has withdrawn his lawsuit against the Assembly filed previously in the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The letter reads in part:

“I am writing to express my sincere and heartfelt apology for any actions, inactions, or misrepresentations on my part that may have contributed to recent misunderstandings with the Lagos State House of Assembly under your leadership. Upon reflection, I realized that my conduct may have been perceived as disrespectful, which was never my intention.”

“I deeply regret any discomfort this may have caused and hold the Assembly and your office in high regard. Moving forward, I am committed to fostering a more constructive and respectful relationship.”

The House has yet to deliberate on the letter as of press time.
