Lagos Strikes Hundreds Of Churches And Mosques Sealed For Noise Violations

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, LASEPA’s General Manager, highlighted the issue during a press briefing, expressing concerns about non-compliance from residents.
Ajayi explained that while fines and shutdowns briefly bring facilities into compliance, many revert to their previous disruptive behaviors. Noise pollution from religious establishments, particularly churches and mosques, was identified as a major issue. He called for stricter policies to control noise levels, urging religious houses to maintain sound levels below 60 decibels.
