Traffic Blocked, Arrests Made! Lagos Govt Cracks Down On Birthday Celebration In Ikoyi

Reports that the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this known on Monday via his X (formerly Twitter) account. He stated that the arrests were made on Saturday for obstructing Raymond Njoku Road in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Wahab further disclosed that the suspects would face charges in court, in line with the state’s legal provisions, stressing that Lagos State will not tolerate violations of its regulations.

He wrote:
“On Saturday, 19th October 2024, the Lagos State Government arrested several individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician, and others, for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during a birthday party and creating a nuisance.

“The arrested individuals are:

1. Omolara Ajetumobi – Event Planner
2. Ogundare Olubunmi – Celebrant
3. Ayodele Busuyi – Musician
4. Owoeye Adedayo – Sound Engineer
5. Akinola Akinkunmi – Vendor

“They will be prosecuted in accordance with state laws. The Lagos State Government reiterates that no one is above the law, and disregard for state regulations will not be condoned.”
