According to Ireporter Online, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued access codes to nine registered political parties to enable them upload the names of their candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The affected parties reportedly include the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alongside other registered political platforms.

The candidates are expected to participate in the presidential, governorship, Senate, and House of Representatives elections, with the exception of Kogi and Osun States, where governorship polls are conducted on an off-cycle basis.

A senior INEC official, speaking anonymously, dismissed claims that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) had been denied access to the commission’s candidate nomination portal, describing such reports as misinformation.

“It is misinformation to suggest that the NDC was denied access code to upload its candidates to the INEC portal. The commission has no reason whatsoever to deny any registered political party access to the platform. I can confirm on good authority that the NDC was among the parties that received their access codes,” the official stated.

The clarification comes amid reports from some NDC officials alleging delays in obtaining the access code, with claims that the party was told the commission would revert after their request.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, had earlier suggested that INEC officials informed them they would be contacted later after their visit to collect the upload credentials.

However, INEC maintained that all eligible political parties were treated fairly and transparently, adding that additional parties were still expected to receive their access codes, bringing the total number to about 13 before the end of the day.

The commission also urged the public to disregard claims of selective denial, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring equal access and a level playing field for all political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
