Tinubu’s Party Rolls Out Big Names For Osun Election Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its National Campaign Council and various sub-committees for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, appointing Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State as chairman of the campaign council.

According to Ireporter Online, the party announced the appointments as part of preparations for the governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

A statement issued by APC National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, revealed that Governor Uzodinma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, will lead the campaign council, while Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas will serve as co-chairmen.

The party also appointed Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Political and Other Matters, as Deputy Chairman of the council, while Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin will serve as Secretary.

APC stated that the council comprises senior party officials, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, lawmakers and other key stakeholders drawn from across the country.

The party explained that the committee was established to coordinate campaign activities and mobilise support ahead of the Osun governorship election.

To ensure effective planning and execution, the APC also created several specialised sub-committees responsible for areas including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics, monitoring and compliance, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, persons with disabilities mobilisation, protocol and secretariat operations.

The inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja.

The party said the campaign structure was designed to bring together experienced political leaders and stakeholders to drive its efforts towards securing victory in the Osun governorship election.
