The Defence Headquarters confirmed the incident, emphasizing the Armed Forces’ resolve to combat insurgency.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, stated, “The attack claimed the lives of five soldiers, with 10 others wounded and four missing. However, troops successfully neutralized numerous terrorists and recovered weapons.”

He added that such actions wouldn’t deter the Armed Forces from their mission to eliminate terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria. A reinforcement team, supported by air components, has been deployed to track the attackers and secure the area.
