BREAKING: Amid Recent Coups, Army Commander Sends Strong Warning To Soldiers Concerning Nigeria
Major General Mohammed Takuti Usman, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA), has issued a stern warning, emphasizing that disloyal soldiers will not be tolerated within the Nigerian Armed Forces.
During his address on Wednesday, Usman urged soldiers to uphold unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the nation, and the constituted authorities at all times. Speaking at the 35 Artillery Brigade in Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State, he stressed the importance of professionalism and complete loyalty in the execution of their duties.

The GOC underscored that their allegiance should begin with the President and extend to the highest echelons of the Armed Forces hierarchy. He issued this directive against the backdrop of ongoing military coups in various African nations, with Gabon being the most recent example on Wednesday, following the one in Niger Republic in July.
Addressing the soldiers in Abeokuta, Usman said, “As we address the challenges and work toward solutions, you must exhibit disciplined and loyal behavior. When I say loyalty, it must commence with the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, who is the President. This is the foremost allegiance, followed by the chain of command.”
“Your loyalty extends to the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, and down to your Brigade Commander. Absolute loyalty is essential. The Armed Forces cannot tolerate soldiers who do not uphold loyalty to the established authority. If loyalty is lacking, then consider other career paths.”
Usman emphasized that loyalty, discipline, and a high level of professionalism are indispensable qualities. He reminded the soldiers of their responsibility to provide security, enabling others to lead normal lives. He stressed the importance of diligence and excellence, urging soldiers to excel on any courses they undertake and strive to be among the best. This, he emphasized, would pave the way for career growth within the Armed Forces.
