The tragic incident occurred on Friday night in North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, the state capital, according to reports obtained by Naija News. The area has recently experienced violent clashes between rival cult factions, leading to loss of lives and property.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that two young men, who were not associated with any cult, fell victim to the rampage. Nura Umar, the chairman of the local vigilante group Operation Shara, confirmed that four people, including a soldier, were killed in separate attacks on Thursday and Friday nights.

“These cultists wreaked havoc around 10–11 PM on Friday. A soldier and two innocent boys were killed near the BIPC. The previous night, another suspected cultist was attacked in his house and killed,” Umar said.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene, confirmed ongoing cult activities in the area, noting that only one civilian fatality had been officially documented. She assured that operatives had been deployed to restore order.

The North Bank region remains tense, with residents calling for increased security to address the escalating violence.
