“This school is a legacy. It is more than ready to become a university. All the credit for this goes to President Tinubu, who prioritizes education and is committed to empowering the youth,” Alausa said.

He further emphasized that the upgrade aligns with the government’s drive to enhance technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial education, reducing the high rate of youth migration in search of opportunities abroad.

“We are investing in artificial intelligence, robotics, and coding to ensure that our youths can work remotely for global companies while remaining in Nigeria. This will help curb the ‘Japa’ syndrome,” he added.

The institution’s Rector, Ibrahim Abdul, welcomed the development, expressing confidence that YABATECH will stand out as a university of technical and vocational education.

“While we aspire to become a university, we do not want to be just another university. We aim to drive innovation and provide practical solutions to societal challenges,” he stated.

He reiterated that YABATECH has the expertise and only requires government support to realize its vision.
