Illegal Migration Crisis: NiDCOM Moves To Crush Fraudulent Recruitment Rings

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has stressed the need to protect Nigerians, particularly the youth, from exploitation by unprofessional recruiters.

Dabiri-Erewa, represented by NiDCOM official Oladele Ogunkanbi, highlighted the growing concern over irregular migration and the urgent need for collaborative efforts to address its root causes.

She commended ARLPAN for its dedication to tackling illegal migration while reaffirming NiDCOM’s commitment to promoting safe and legal migration pathways.

ARLPAN President, Rex Bamidele Jacob, identified economic hardship, misinformation, human rights violations, and deceitful recruiters as key drivers of irregular migration. He urged stakeholders, including the media, to amplify awareness efforts and support regulatory measures to curb the activities of unlicensed recruiters.

Jacob further emphasized the importance of strengthening legal migration frameworks, enhancing border security, and improving international cooperation to address the crisis effectively.
