Obi expressed concern about Nigeria’s escalating borrowing trend, emphasizing the lack of judicious use of loans for investments as mandated by law. He particularly highlighted the substantial increase in debt during the previous administration. In response, Bwala accused Obi of lacking the moral authority to criticize President Bola Tinubu’s borrowing initiatives, citing Obi’s alleged significant expansion of Anambra state’s debt during his tenure as governor.

Bwala asserted that the state’s debt skyrocketed by over 1000% under Obi’s leadership, casting doubt on Obi’s credibility to comment on fiscal matters.
