Charly Boy Is So Jaga Jaga” — Obasanjo Wishes He Resembled His Father
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed his reservations about the lifestyle and public persona of veteran Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy.
Obasanjo made the comments during an interview with media personality Bae U on the “Curiosity Made Me Ask” podcast.
Responding to a question about why he frequently described Charly Boy as “Jaga Jaga,” the former President said he did not know much about the entertainer.
Obasanjo, however, spoke highly of Charly Boy’s late father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, whom he described as a great man.
“Well, Charlie Boy is so jaga jaga that I don’t know anything about him,” Obasanjo said.
“He has a good father, Justice Oputa. Oh, what a great man. I wish Charlie Boy had resembled him.”
The remarks come amid public interest in Obasanjo’s comments about prominent Nigerian personalities during his recent media appearances.
Obasanjo has continued to feature in interviews where he discusses issues ranging from Nigeria’s political history and governance to personalities who have played notable roles in the country’s public life.
