The reopening of the border, which was announced on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of Kebbi Customs, Mohammed Tajuddeen Salisu, marks a significant step towards facilitating legitimate trade and boosting revenue generation in Kebbi State.

During the reopening ceremony, attended by various stakeholders including the district head of Kamba, Alhaji Mamuda Fana, and representatives from sister agencies, the Comptroller emphasized the importance of the Kamba border for trade and revenue generation in the state.

He reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to facilitate legitimate trade within the boundaries of the law, ensuring that stakeholders comply with customs regulations and pay the required duties to the Federal Government.

While welcoming the reopening, Alhaji Mamuda Fana expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its efforts, noting the positive impact it will have on citizens involved in cross-border trade, particularly small-scale business owners in Kamba town. He pledged to encourage his people to engage only in legal trade activities.

Additionally, the Comptroller paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gwandu, Major General Muhammed Bashir Iliyasu (Rtd), seeking his support and cooperation in ensuring smooth trade across borders and combating smuggling activities. The visit aimed to foster collaboration among sister agencies to enhance security and promote legitimate trade in the region.
