Bawa, who assumed the position in 2017 under the appointment of President Nana Akufo-Addo, succumbed to a brief illness on Thursday.

In a statement released by Francisca K. Omayuli, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heartfelt condolences were extended to the government and citizens of the Republic of Ghana following the loss of H.E. Rashid Bawa.

Omayuli described Bawa as an exceptional diplomat whose efforts significantly enhanced the longstanding and strategic relationship between Nigeria and Ghana.
