At least 16 military personnel, including the Commanding Officer of 181 Battalion, two Army Majors, and 13 soldiers, were brutally murdered on Thursday by assailants, who ambushed them during their mission. The attackers, reportedly from both communities, gruesomely beheaded and dismembered most of the victims.

In response to this appalling incident, the Senate’s Committee on Army, led by Senator AbdulAziz Yar’Adua (APC Katsina Central), expressed profound condolences to the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja. They condemned the massacre and pledged full support for the investigation and legal proceedings to ensure that the perpetrators face justice.

Senator Yar’Adua emphasized the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen officers and soldiers, highlighting their unwavering commitment to peace and security in the nation.
