In an interview, Moro highlighted the ongoing disagreements within the Senate and emphasized that the issues raised by Senator Ningi remain unresolved. He criticized Ningi’s approach, stating that the Senate has established institutional procedures for addressing concerns, and resorting to the court of public opinion is unnecessary.
Moro also addressed the transparency concerns raised by Ningi, pointing out that the misguided allegations have damaged the Senate’s reputation and led to suspicions among senators, particularly those from the South-South region. He emphasized the importance of maintaining unity within the Senate and avoiding actions that undermine the institution.
Regarding the transparency of constituency projects, Moro acknowledged the need for improvement and called for thorough investigations into any allegations of misuse of funds. He stressed the importance of accountability and proper utilization of allocated funds for constituency projects to fulfill the expectations of constituents.
When questioned about the Senate’s rules and the possibility of amendments, Moro emphasized that the Senate is open to reviewing and amending its rules to address emerging challenges and prevent loopholes. He underscored the importance of ensuring clarity and fairness in the rules governing the conduct of senators and the functioning of the Senate as an institution.
In conclusion, Moro emphasized the need for unity and transparency within the Senate to overcome the current challenges and restore public confidence in the institution. He called for collective efforts to address issues of concern and uphold the integrity of the Senate as a legislative body serving the interests of all Nigerians.
