Speaking during the celebration of his two-year tenure at the International Convention Center, Awka, Governor Soludo revealed this fact on Sunday.
Highlighting his administration’s commitment to austerity measures, Soludo emphasized the steps taken to reduce costs, including his decision not to procure an official car for the First Lady of Anambra, who continues to use his personal vehicles.
This decision aligns with a broader strategy aimed at demonstrating effective resource management and avoiding unnecessary borrowing.
“We have deliberately chosen not to borrow, showcasing our ability to achieve more with less,” Soludo stated.
Despite receiving approximately 25% less in real terms compared to previous administrations, Soludo’s government has managed to avoid accumulating new debts, contrary to the common practice of new administrations resorting to borrowing to fund projects.
Governor Soludo assured the people of Anambra that their resources were being managed judiciously, promising transparency, especially regarding any future borrowing. He pledged that any borrowed funds would be openly accounted for and invested in self-sustaining projects capable of repaying the debt incurred.
The event, which also included a thanksgiving mass, was attended by the Catholic Bishops of Nnewi and Awka, Most Rev. Jonas-Benson Okoye and Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, respectively.
