Drama As Queen Atang Confronts Pastor Kingsley’s Claim That Men Owe Women Nothing
Reality TV personality, Queen Mercy Atang, has faulted Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo of David’s Christian Centre following his recent sermon on the role of men in relationships.
The clergyman had stated that men are not biblically mandated to provide for women, insisting that such belief is more cultural than spiritual. He explained that women should not depend solely on men for their upkeep but should also make contributions in their homes.
Queen Atang, known for her outspoken views on faith and family matters, strongly opposed this perspective. While acknowledging her respect for Pastor Kingsley’s ministry and the impact of his teachings, she declared that she could not align with his position.
Citing scriptural references, she emphasized that the Bible identifies the man as the head of the home and the provider, while the woman is described as a helper and supporter. According to her, this order should not be misrepresented.
She further argued that many women are already taking on the role of providers in their families, warning that such teachings could worsen the imbalance and give men an excuse to neglect their responsibilities.
Taking to Instagram, Queen wrote that her disagreement stemmed from the risk of encouraging men to abandon what she described as their God-given duty to provide. She urged that messages from the pulpit should be mindful of how they may be interpreted, noting that while the intention may not be to shift responsibilities, the effect could lead to women carrying burdens they were never meant to shoulder.
