Speaking at the First International Conference of Peaceland University in Enugu, with the theme “Digitalization in Education, Staying Ahead of the Curve,” Obi underscored the importance of education in driving national development. He argued that the rapid pace of technological advancements requires the education system to continuously adapt in order to remain relevant and effective.

He noted, “In today’s fast-evolving world, where technology is advancing rapidly, it’s essential that our education system keeps pace with these changes, especially in the digital space, to remain productive and impactful.”

Obi highlighted the growing trend of digitalization in global education, citing Indira Gandhi National Open University in India as an example. With over 7 million students, it is the largest university in the world by enrollment, primarily offering distance learning through digital platforms.

The former governor of Anambra State explained that digitalizing education in Nigeria could help close the infrastructure gap, expand access to education, and lower the cost of physical infrastructure. He concluded, “By investing aggressively in education, we can cultivate responsible citizens who will actively contribute to the country’s development.”
