FPRO Adejobi Calls Out Dishonest Social Media Human Rights Advocates
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has criticized certain online human rights activists for their corrupt practices. He made these remarks on Wednesday during the 2024 lecture series organized by the Delta...READ MORE…

Adejobi highlighted the growing issue of cybercrime in Nigeria and expressed concern over some online activists who, he claimed, have compromised their integrity. He pointed out that these individuals often boast on social media about recovering funds from security agents, but, in reality, a portion of the money ends up in their pockets without public awareness.
The Police spokesperson also condemned the prevalence of cyberbullying, romance scams, internet fraud, cyber prostitution, and other criminal activities in the digital space. He lamented that many young people misuse their skills for illegal activities, which he stressed are punishable under the Cyber Crime 2015 Act (as amended in 2024).
Adejobi further revealed instances where internet fraudsters have scammed law enforcement officers by cloning their accounts and stealing money. He urged journalists, especially those in online media, to ensure they verify their facts before publishing and to seek proper confirmation to maintain balanced reporting. Failure to do so, he warned, would be a violation of the Cyber Crime Act.
