Joshua vs Fury Fight In Fresh Crisis As Venue Dispute Escalates

According to IReporter Online, Frank Warren, who promotes Fury under Queensberry, remains optimistic that the fight can take place in November despite the disagreement between the two camps.

Wembley Stadium had initially emerged as the preferred venue for the long-awaited contest. However, disagreements over the proposed start time have reportedly shifted attention towards Madison Square Garden in New York.

Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh is believed to favour New York because of the venue’s potential to attract a larger international audience and generate significant global interest.

However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has taken a firm position against moving the fight to New York without an agreement that would allow the contest to be staged outside the United Kingdom.

Hearn has insisted that Joshua’s camp remains committed to holding the bout in Britain based on the terms of its existing agreement. He also warned that any decision to announce New York as the venue without approval from Joshua’s side could bring the entire fight to an end.

Warren, however, maintains that Fury’s contractual arrangements give his camp a different interpretation of the situation and believes there is still a path towards making the fight happen.

“Tyson Fury has his agreement, which states something different. The fight will happen,” Warren said.

He further stressed that both sides would have to reach an agreement, warning that failure to do so could ultimately prevent the contest from taking place.

Warren revealed that Fury signed his agreement for the proposed bout in January, when the fight was originally being targeted for September. The event was subsequently pushed back after plans for a preparatory bout were abandoned following a tragic accident in which Joshua lost two close friends.

Both heavyweight stars have since returned to the ring as they continue preparing for a potential showdown.

Fury secured victory over Mariusz Wach in Thailand after his opponent’s corner retired him in the seventh round, while Joshua overcame a difficult opening against Kristian Prenga in Jeddah. The former world champion was knocked down twice in the first round before recovering to stop the previously little-known contender.

November remains the intended window for the highly anticipated Joshua-Fury clash. However, the unresolved disagreement over the venue has emerged as a major hurdle.

With Hearn refusing to accept a move to New York without an agreement and Warren insisting that Fury’s contractual position allows the fight to proceed, negotiations will need to make significant progress before the blockbuster British heavyweight clash can be officially finalised.
