Osun Election: INEC Releases PVC Figures Ahead Of Saturday’s Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final figures for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected by registered voters across Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

According to IReporter Online, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, disclosed the figures in a statement issued on Thursday.

Haruna said Osun State has 2,339,233 registered voters, out of which 1,906,390 PVCs, representing 81.50 per cent, have been collected by eligible voters.

He explained that the remaining 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of the total, had been securely deposited at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in accordance with the commission’s established procedures.

The INEC official also disclosed that some registered voters whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost had applied for replacements. A total of 6,101 applicants were said to have printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.

Haruna added that the commission had published a detailed breakdown of the collected PVCs on a Polling Unit-by-Polling Unit basis on its official website.

He reiterated INEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election, assuring political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of Osun State that the commission was fully prepared for Saturday’s poll.

Meanwhile, security agencies have announced plans to restrict movement into and out of Osun State from midnight on Friday as part of measures to ensure a peaceful conduct of the governorship election.

The restriction is expected to affect major routes connecting Osun State with neighbouring areas, with security personnel, including the military and police, deployed to monitor entry points.

Only individuals travelling for essential duties, security operations and voters heading to their polling units to exercise their civic rights are expected to be permitted to move during the restriction period.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed the security arrangement while addressing journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday.

He explained that the movement restriction formed part of a broader security strategy aimed at preventing suspected troublemakers from entering the state and disrupting the electoral process.

With more than 1.9 million PVCs collected and security measures being tightened, attention is now firmly focused on Saturday’s governorship election as voters prepare to determine the next governor of Osun State.
