Governor Okpebholo’s Nominee, Emmanuel Okoebor, Approved As Edo’s Finance Commissioner

The nomination highlighted the importance of Okoebor’s appointment in overseeing the effective management of the state’s finances. It was reviewed by the House Committee on Rules, Business, and Government House, headed by Majority Leader Charity Aiguobarueghian, who recommended his approval.

During the plenary session on Wednesday, the Assembly unanimously voted in favor of Okoebor’s confirmation, marking a significant move toward strengthening the state’s governance.

In a separate development, Governor Okpebholo has announced the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions. Additionally, the management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City have been disengaged with immediate effect.

These decisions were communicated through a “Government Special Announcement” issued on November 20, 2024, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
