and Industrial Trade Fair in Lagos, Shettima underscored that the administration’s economic strategies are focused on promoting stability and fostering growth, with Nigeria making notable progress in its economic recovery.

Shettima highlighted that Nigeria’s GDP had grown by 2.98% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, with the services sector contributing significantly, posting a growth rate of 4.32% and representing 58.04% of the total GDP.

Represented by his Special Assistant on Regional Development, Dr. Marian Tomitope Marshall, the Vice President urged trade fair participants to leverage this opportunity to form lasting partnerships that would drive Nigeria’s economic advancement.

Shettima further emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an environment conducive for both local and international businesses to thrive.

He also commended Barr. Veronica Ndanusa, Director/CEO of the Lagos State Trade Fair Complex, for her leadership in organizing the event, which she described as vital to Nigeria’s economic growth and development.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on President Tinubu to reassess his economic reforms, urging that they better address the growing struggles of Nigerians, particularly in the northern region. The ACF pointed out that the region faces challenges such as food insecurity, limited educational opportunities, and a heavy reliance on small-scale economic activities for survival. While the forum acknowledged the need for reforms, they cautioned that policies should not exacerbate poverty or hardships.
