Justice Emeka Nwite granted the warrant on Wednesday afternoon at the instance of the EFCC, signaling a significant move in the ongoing legal proceedings against Bello.

However, a separate ruling from a Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has temporarily restrained the EFCC from arresting, detaining, or prosecuting Bello. In a two-hour judgment delivered by Hon. Justice I.A Jamil, the court issued an injunction preventing the EFCC from infringing on Bello’s fundamental human rights unless authorized by the court.

This ruling follows Bello’s application to enforce his fundamental rights against the EFCC, underscoring the legal battle surrounding his case.

The court’s decision also prohibits the respondents from further persecuting Bello, providing him with a legal shield against any unwarranted actions from the anti-graft agency.
