In a statement by Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, the government described Adebutu as a “drowning man” attempting to tarnish the administration’s reputation. Akinmade clarified that Governor Abiodun returned home after voting and left for Ondo State, countering claims of election-day violence orchestrated by the governor.

The statement also accused Adebutu of bringing armed policemen and political thugs into the state, alleging their involvement in violent acts, including ballot box snatching and voter intimidation. Akinmade highlighted an incident where the Vice Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Muhammed Efuwape, was shot alongside another voter at a polling booth.

The government urged Adebutu to cooperate with law enforcement rather than evade accountability, asserting that his political strategies are harming the state’s peace and stability. Calling Adebutu a “sore loser,” the administration emphasized the overwhelming participation of Ogun residents in the elections and dismissed his claims as baseless.

The statement concluded by urging Adebutu to accept his electoral defeat and focus on constructive contributions to the state rather than “spinning lies.”
