Edo State Declares Full-Scale War On Cultism As Gov Okpebholo Orders Crackdown

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that security is a top priority for his administration, particularly in tackling the growing issue of cultism and associated killings in the state. He called for enhanced collaboration among security agencies to eradicate the threat posed by criminal groups, especially in Benin City.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to creating a safe environment for all residents and urged security forces to intensify efforts to drive criminals out of the state.
“We will not tolerate cultism or any form of violence in Edo State,” he stated. “We will work together to ensure the safety of our people and eliminate criminal activities.”
Edo State Commissioner of Police, Umoru Peter Ozigi, also attended the meeting and expressed appreciation for the Governor’s support. He assured that the security forces would continue their efforts to maintain peace in the state, with full backing from the Governor’s administration.
