The tweet, which was posted at 4:08 pm on Monday, quickly gained attention, amassing over 16,000 views. In the post, Dare described the bilateral discussions between Nigeria and India, during which both countries signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on culture, customs, and survey cooperation. He also mentioned that the Indian Prime Minister had been awarded the honorary CON by President Tinubu.

In contrast, the official Twitter account of the Nigerian Presidency, @NGRPresident, posted a statement at 4:34 pm on Sunday, confirming that Prime Minister Modi had been awarded the GCON (Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger) title. The post was accompanied by a photo of the two leaders shaking hands.

The discrepancy between Dare’s claim and the official post has created confusion, as the CON is a lower honour compared to the GCON. The error came to light after Modi shared the development on his own X account earlier, well before the Presidency’s official post.
