Revealing this groundbreaking commitment, Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziak Salako, announced that the funds will be sourced through the third issuance of the Sovereign Green Bond, underscoring the government’s steadfast dedication to fostering eco-friendly practices and achieving the Net Zero target by 2060.

Addressing stakeholders at the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change Meeting in Abuja, Salako emphasized the critical role of the Green Bond programme in actualizing Nigeria’s ambitious climate goals, highlighting the imperative of investing in green capital projects to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.

“With a larger-sized issuance of N60 billion allocated for 2024, we are poised to implement impactful green projects that align with our low emission objectives,” Salako affirmed, signaling a concerted effort towards building a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.

Amidst this landmark initiative, Benue State issues a stern warning to herders flouting anti-open grazing laws, signaling a firm stance against environmental degradation and promoting peaceful coexistence within its borders.
