He made this assertion while hosting the state and national leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) during a solidarity walk to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday, May 16.
Fubara’s statement follows a recent escalation in tensions between him and his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike. The solidarity walk was organized as part of the commemoration of the late Major Isaac Adaka Boro’s heroic deeds, observed annually on May 16.
Governor Fubara praised Major Boro’s commitment to equity, justice, and fair play, emphasizing his role as a liberator for the Ijaw people. He stressed the importance of every genuine Rivers individual being a liberator and expressed gratitude for the support received.
He stated, “I am delighted to receive you because we share a common purpose: to liberate our dear state. We have already overcome our adversaries. Those who once threatened us now find themselves restless. Our Ijaw heritage empowers us with action-oriented resilience.”
Fubara urged Ijaw youths to represent their community peacefully and uphold the values of Major Isaac Adaka Boro. Additionally, he pledged support for the IYC Eastern Zone’s efforts to establish a fitting secretariat in Rivers State.
