Gov. Diri Applauds Security Agencies For Securing Release Of Abducted Judge

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has commended security agencies in the state for their coordinated efforts that led to the safe rescue of Justice Ebieyerin Omukoro from his kidnappers.

Justice Omukoro, a judge of the Bayelsa State High Court, regained his freedom on Thursday evening after spending 12 harrowing days in captivity.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, revealed that security operatives intensified the pursuit of the abductors following a direct order from Governor Diri to ensure the judge was rescued unharmed.

The governor particularly praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for mounting sustained pressure on the kidnappers, which ultimately forced them to release their victim.

Governor Diri, while assuring residents of Bayelsa of their continued safety, vowed that all criminals who fled during the security onslaught would be tracked down and brought to justice.

“This administration remains committed to supporting security agencies in the discharge of their duties,” he said.

He also emphasized the critical role of public cooperation in maintaining peace and stability, urging communities across the state to continue working closely with security personnel to sustain the hard-won peace.
