Explaining the necessity for residents to take action, Radda pointed out that the current number of security operatives in Nigeria is insufficient to address the ongoing insecurity challenges. Radda stated, “We’re not advocating for armed citizens; rather, we’re acknowledging that the security forces available are not enough to protect everyone.” He called on communities to enlist their youth for training in self-defense, equipping them with tools to protect themselves prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

He remarked, “It’s unfortunate that a small group of bandits, armed with a couple of guns, can terrorize a community of hundreds or even thousands.” Radda reiterated his belief in the need for more local engagement in security, noting the establishment of the ‘Katsina Community Watch’ initiative, which trains and equips youth to support security efforts.
