The move comes ahead of the highly anticipated match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled for today, February 7.
In a bid to ensure that the vibrant and football-loving populace of Lagos savors every moment of the game, the state government has erected a network of 25 viewing centers across various districts. These centers aim to unite fans of all ages and backgrounds in the thrilling spectacle of football.
With the AFCON 2023 tournament underway since January 13, 2024, Nigeria has maintained an undefeated streak, igniting hope and excitement among its fervent supporters. Now, with the Mobolaji Johnson Arena transformed into a Mega Viewing Centre, the stage is set for an electrifying showdown as the Super Eagles take on their South African rivals at 6 PM.
Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, emphasized the significance of Lagos as the sporting hub of Nigeria, underscoring Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to providing an inclusive platform for fans to partake in the excitement.
