Guber Aspirant, Others Dump APC In Key Northern State

APC

One of the gubernatorial aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger, Mohammed Yahaya Ibrahim, has defected to the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).

This is just as the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) and the Advance Congress for Democrats (ACD) in Niger State have merged into the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the state.

Ibrahim registered his membership with the NNPP at his Umaru Majigi B Ward in Bida.

He said he defected from the APC with thousands of his supporters, adding that a new dimension is needed for a new Nigeria, particularly in Niger State.

Ibrahim noted that the NNPP will give a level playing ground to all aspirants, as they do not need to curry the favour of executives to be assured of their candidature.

The PDM, ACD merger follows the judgement of the Supreme Court which upheld the decision of the Appeal Court in favour of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in delisting 22 political parties including the PDM and the ACD.

Stakeholders in both parties met in Minna and jointly agreed to collapse their political interests into the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to participate in the 2023 general elections.

In a communiqué signed by Engineer Abubakar Abdullahi Gwada from PDM and Yahaya Tauheed from ACD after the stakeholders’ meeting, members of the parties were directed to register their membership with the NNPP at their various wards across Niger State.
