ICPC Set To Investigate INEC Officials After Complaints In Edo Governorship Race

ireporteronline  reports that Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner of the September 21, 2024, election by the electoral body.

Speaking with journalists, ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare confirmed that the commission had received several complaints against INEC officials. Observers, including legal professionals under the Tap Initiative, visited ICPC’s headquarters to demand accountability, alleging that INEC had produced two sets of result sheets (EC8A) during the election.

The Executive Director of Tap Initiative, Martin Obono, called for further action, including reports to international bodies like USAID, the EU, and the UK.

Bakare assured the public, stating, “When handling a petition, we do not disclose details. We received and acknowledged the complaint. If there is substance, we will act accordingly.”
