Integrity Matters: Kano Commission Sanctions Judiciary Staff In Misconduct Crackdown

According to a statement from Kano State Judiciary spokesperson Baba Ibrahim, Magistrate Nasir Ado faced charges of conducting court proceedings without documentation and falsifying records, resulting in his removal from judicial duties for gross misconduct. In another case, Sharia court judge Yusuf Kawu was indefinitely recalled after unlawfully releasing a convicted individual.
Magistrate Sanusi Atana received a formal warning for exceeding his jurisdiction, while Kiru Sharia Court’s Finance Registrar, Salisu Nayola, was compulsorily retired for soliciting bribes. Additionally, court messenger Shuaibu Bello was suspended for four months for corruption and misconduct toward court users.
These actions, Ibrahim noted, reinforce the JSC’s dedication to upholding integrity within Kano’s judiciary, emphasizing that misconduct will not be tolerated.
