Speaking at the final briefing of CBT center owners, JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, relayed the directive issued by JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede. Oloyede emphasized that any parent disregarding the order would not only face arrest but would also lead to the disqualification of their ward from sitting for the examination.

Benjamin highlighted Oloyede’s concerns, stating that many intruding parents have been found to facilitate examination infractions or disrupt examinations in the past. Some individuals even pose as parents to infiltrate centers and perpetrate various forms of misconduct.

Oloyede stressed that security operatives have been directed to collaborate with the centers to apprehend any meddlesome parent attempting to approach the venues. He reiterated that, according to national education policy, candidates must be at least 17 years old to sit for the examination. Parents attempting to accompany underage children to the exam venues will face sanctions.

Acknowledging that some parents have circumvented proper educational channels for their wards, Oloyede urged center owners to view their role as a national duty and not solely a profit venture. He encouraged them to identify and report any unethical behavior among their ranks.

The directive underscores JAMB’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the UTME process and ensuring a fair and transparent examination environment for all candidates.
