Yahaya Bello’s Lawyer Reveals Where Ex-Gov Was During EFCC Raid At His Abuja Residence
Yahaya Bello’s legal representative has shed light on the circumstances surrounding the recent raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the former Kogi Governor’s Abuja residence. According to Abdulwahab Muhammed, Bello’s counsel, his client was in Kogi State awaiting a judgment related to the restraining order when he learned of the EFCC’s actions at his residence on Benghazi Street in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja. Muhammed denounced the raid as “illegal and unconstitutional,” accusing the court of being misled into issuing an arrest warrant against the former governor.
This incident comes after the EFCC amended a money laundering charge filed against Alli Bello, the Chief of Staff to the current Governor of Kogi, Usman Ododo, and one Daudu Suleiman, implicating Yahaya Bello in the diversion of approximately N100 billion belonging to the Kogi government.
In response, the Kogi government has vehemently defended its financial integrity, refuting claims of missing funds during Bello’s administration. As the legal proceedings unfold, the case continues to attract significant attention, highlighting governance and legal challenges concerning former and current officials of Kogi State.
